With the increasing use of nanotechnologies, more and more companies and laboratories are asking questions about safe handling of nanomaterials. In the position paper (Positionspapier) Responsible Use of Nanomaterials at the Workplace, the DGUV has taken a public position and set a framework for action.

In the field of occupational health and safety, it is essential to ensure the protection of employees against possible risks while taking full advantage of the opportunities. It is advisable to incorporate the idea of industrial protection already in the establishment of nanotechnologies in the factories. The primary aim is to make the knowledge available for operational practice.

The DGUV aims to promote the competence of its employees and insured persons in the field of nanotechnologies through targeted qualification measures. The development of an innovative, "nano-specific" educational offer makes it possible to expand the range of services in line with needs.

The Innovation Society, St. Gallen has developed the nano-portal under a DGUV research funding project.
